In 2014, about 50 people from Bergen County died from drug overdoses,which was double theprior year.In 2016, the number of deathsfrom overdoses reached 87 ,of which70 deathswere heroin- or opioid-related. This year, there have already been 77 reported heroin- or opioid-related overdoses,andnine deaths. Those numbers wouldbefar higher withoutnaloxone, commonly referred to byitsbrand name,Narcan.
